Chinatown has always had trouble with cleanliness but there is a constant effort to urge residents to be more environmentally aware and clean up the neighborhood. In 1972, children from 3 New York public schools in Chinatown (P.S. 2, P.S. 23, and P.S. 42) created artwork to encourage people to “Clean up Chinatown.” On this Earth Day we would like to urge you to go out and demonstrate support for the wellbeing of the environment by volunteering at a clean-up event (https://www.epa.gov/earthday/earth-day-events ) or even simply taking public transportation instead of driving.
